Do you recall the story from Mark chapter 5 in the Bible about the demon-possessed man?  He was delivered and healed and wanted to follow the Lord wherever He went.  But Jesus stopped him saying, “Go home to your family and tell them how much the Lord has done for you.”  The man returned to his family and told what Jesus had done for him. His story was exactly what his family needed to hear to believe in Jesus Christ.

I’m reminded of this story whenever I think of how important it is to share the Good News within our families. And yet, reaching our families is often the hardest work of all. But be strong!  Know that God put you, specifically you, in your family for a purpose. You are a light, a daily witness, to the Good News in the home. A witness to God’s compassion and patience; to God’s power also.

This week ask God for specific ways to be a light to your family. Maybe it is with your actions, serving them during a tough time. Or find a time where you can express with words how much God cares for them. Be attentive to how God can use you, in the simplest of ways. Because reaching our world for Christ really can happen around the dinner table, surrounded by your very own family.                                                                                                     This is Luis Palau.
