The devil’s original name in heaven was Lucifer in Latin which means ‘morning star’(Isaiah 14:12).  He was a high-ranking angelic being and an anointed cherub(Ezekiel 28:12-17).  He was full of wisdom, beauty, and perfection.  His position was exalted in heaven, yet pride and desire to exalt himself above God led to his fall.  After his fall, he has been called ‘the Adversary or the ‘Accuser’(job & Zachariah).  In the New Testament, his name is Satan and Slanderer.  He is no longer Lucifer, but he still deceives by appearing as if he were Lucifer.  He turned from a glorious light-bearer to the ultimate adversary, opposes God and seeks to deceive humanity.  Jesus Christ alone is the true Morning Star(Revelation 22:16) and the true light we can follow without fear.  Satan has been trying hard to deceive and blind the entire humanity, including the Christians.

Luke 10:30-37 - Parable of the Good Samaritan- a good example of a holy moment.

As answer to a lawyer’s question about who is a good neighbor, Jesus said the parable of  the Good Samaritan.  Robbers attacked a man going from Jerusalem to Jericho.  They stripped him, beat him and left him half dead.  A priest and a Levite passed by him, but they did not help him.   But a Samaritan man felt compassion for him, bandaged up his wounds, put him on his beast,  and took him to an inn.  He stayed with him overnight, paid his expenses, and promised to pay any other expenses incurred when he would come back. Then Jesus asked him,

Luke 10:10: 36 - “Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the robbers’ hands?”കള്ളന്മാരുടെ കയ്യിൽ അകപ്പെട്ടവന്നു ഈ മൂവരിൽ ഏവൻ കൂട്ടുകാരനായിത്തീർന്നു എന്നു നിനക്കു തോന്നുന്നു?

 The Bible emphasizes that reading or hearing the Bible is only the first step.  True spiritual power and blessing come from practicing the word of God.  Jesus, the word of God, was with the Father before the creation of the world.  The Father and the Son Jesus together become one God.  Without Jesus in our life, it is hard to move on smoothly with our life.  When we love Jesus and follow His commands, Jesus and His heavenly Father will come and reside with us.  Then our life will be run by them, not on our own capacity. Then whatever we ask will be given to us.

 Saul was in hearty agreement with the murder of Stephen (Acts 8:1).  After the murder of Stephen, Saul breathed threats and murder against the disciples of Jesus (Acts 9:1).  He went to the high priest and asked for letters to the synagogues of Damascus to bind any man or woman who preached the word of God and bring them to Jerusalem.  While he was approaching Damascus, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him.  He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him,

 The following two Bible verses show the two opposite characters of King Solomon.  

1st Kings 10:23 – “So King Solomon became greater than all he kings of the earth in riches and in wisdom.”

1st Kings 11:6 – “ Solomon did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, and did not  follow the Lord fully, as David his father had done.”

King Solomon inherited the kingdom from his father David.  God blessed Solomon in many ways by giving wisdom, riches, power and fame.  When we analyze the Scriptures, it is noticeable that he achieved innumerable successes during his reign when he held on to God and performed his duties as a king as per the instruction of God.  Whenever he deviated from God and did things to please false gods, his failures multiplied.  This is a lesson for all.

John 7:39 – Jesus clarifies what He means by the living water.

The living water, Jesus offers, is the Holy spirit, given to those who believe in Him.  Before His crucifixion, resurrection and ascension, Jesus was not glorified to release the Holy Spirit.  It was possible only after His ascension.  When the Holy spirit comes within a person, it overflows like water.  The Holy Spirit that overflows is living water which can bear fruits in other people. The Holy spirit is the rain of Heaven, and He is the living river that flows from within.

St. Stephen is recognized as the first Christian martyr who was stoned to death about two years after the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.  His boldness to preach the gospel led to his arrest and the subsequent stoning.  He was a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit.  He was falsely charged with saying blasphemy against Jesus and Moses. The last moments of his death resembles the death of Jesus.  There is glory associated with his life and death. Stephen’s death should give inspiration to all Christians in times of suffering.
