Episode 1: A Second Chance to Try Again
Welcome to the very first episode of LIKE I SAID PODCAST! 🎙️
In this episode, I’m letting you get to know the person behind the podcast—my personality, my perspective, my struggles, and the things I’m learning about myself along the way.
I’m opening up about what it feels like to wake up feeling empty, overthink, struggle with the opinions of others, and sometimes be harder on myself than I need to be. But this conversation isn't about staying stuck in those feelings.
It’s about realizing that a difficult moment doesn't mean you have a difficult life.
Sometimes you need to pause. Sometimes you need to rest. Sometimes you need to clear your mind and give yourself grace before trying again.
Because a second chance doesn't always mean starting over. Sometimes it simply means getting back up.
This is only the beginning. ❤️
Come sit with me, get comfortable, and let's talk about the things we don't always say out loud.
LIKE I SAID… we're just getting started.
A Little Mustard Seed: I Bounced Back
Sometimes the thing that breaks us isn't the thing that started the pain. In this episode of LIKE I SAID PODCAST, Hakeem opens up about a difficult night that began with frustration, anxiety, and plans that just wouldn't seem to work out. What started as a rainy day and a missed church conference quickly brought years of anger, grief, disappointment, and feeling stuck to the surface.
But something was different this time.
Instead of allowing anger to turn into the deep depression he's experienced before, Hakeem found himself slowing down, listening, reflecting, talking with his brother, and ultimately turning back toward God in repentance.
This episode isn't about being perfect. It's about recognizing progress when it doesn't look the way you expected.
Sometimes growth is simply bouncing back faster.
Sometimes faith isn't a mountain.
Sometimes it's just a little mustard seed. 🌱
📖 Episode Description
What happens when you're finally ready to show up for yourself, but everything seems to go wrong?
In this episode, Hakeem talks about anxiety, anger, grief, feeling stuck, faith, repentance, and the frustration of constantly feeling like life keeps knocking you backward.
He shares how one difficult night almost pulled him into an old cycle of anger and depression—and how, this time, he didn't stay there.
The lesson: You can fall without staying down. You can have a bad moment without becoming your worst moment. And sometimes progress isn't that you never struggle again—it's that you bounce back.
“Maybe you don't need a mountain of faith. Maybe all you need is a little mustard seed.” 🌱
