Jesus continued in His Sermon on the Mount by discussing our tendency to perform acts of spiritual devotion differently when we have an audience. He reminds us that God rewards right motives, but not wrong ones. He also helps us recognize that right motives produce a deeper relationship with God himself, and growth in righteousness.
