In 1 Corinthians 11-1 Paul says, -Imitate me, as I imitate Christ.- This was always Paul -mission-- to be the image of Christ in life and in death, in his obedience to his mission and in obedience through his suffering. --Flip over to Acts 21-17-36. Luke, giving a biography of the Holy Spirit's work among the Gentiles, records Paul finally arriving in Jerusalem. He had often wanted to return there, and he comes with an entourage of the Whose-Who of the Gentile churches, bringing what must've been a HUGE sum of money as a relief-offering to the suffering Christian-Jews in Jerusalem, who, we are told, number in the many thousands. --As Paul arrives, he shows his hand- he isn't worried about dying- he only wants to make Christ known by any means necessary, and so he does. Yet he takes some weird actions that also seem to contradict his own words and behavior elsewhere. What is going on---Why does Luke record these things- Because Luke wants us to see, in Paul, an example of Christ-likeness for us to imitate-to know, without a doubt, that Paul's way is Christ's way -or rather, Christ's way is Paul's way-.
