Wonderfully entertaining
Not your typical mystery, this book made me feel as if I experienced this unique area of the US and the characters in the story. I was disappointed when the novel was over, because Brad Pope felt like a really good friend and not just a character. The author is so effectively seductive in describing the culture, the characters and the story, that it is as if I had been there. An avid reader for more than 40 years, especially of mysteries and character-driven novels, I was so excited to find a new author of this caliber. If someone likes a fun, but beautifully written work, along with a twist here and there, they will love this mystery. I cannot wait to read another work about Brad Pope!
Five Stars for Limestone Gumption!
Those five stars are for five of my favorite mystery ingredients: murder, believable characters, vivid settings with local folklore, humor and a satisfying, unpredictable conclusion. The author uses strong, colorful descriptions that invite the reader to see, smell, hear, taste and practically reach out and touch the town of Whitecross and its residents. When this novel ended, I did not want to leave the whole experience behind. So now, I will try to find the limestone gumption in my life while I wait for another adventure with Brad Pope and the community of Whitecross.
Got to read this novel! That's an order!
Even though I'm a Brit and totally out of my linguistic zone, I saw the author in it with all his brilliance. He knows his stuff, does Dr. Robinson and funny too. Even though I know him, have presented with him and for him, this was a complete surprise to me. I had absolutely no idea of this novelist side of him. Incredibly brilliant, compassionate, loving professional, he is that as a human. What a hoot - can't wait to see the movie. The thought of a cast blows my mind! Dr. Yvonne Kaye. Number one fan. You must read this quirky, creative mystery!
I did not want the story to end.
I truly enjoyed this book. It is not my usual reading fare but I read it in two days. The plot was compelling, the setting was fascinating and the characters wonderful.
