Beltane is a Gaelic celebration of the joy of spring and the coming summer. Originally it was the day when farmers brought the cows to pasture. There was the lighting of fires to protect the cattle, crops and homes and to encourage new growth and fertility. It was a grand day of May flowers decorating the Maypoles & doorways, feasting & dancing & offerings to the faeries!

Beltane is still celebrated world-wide by many. It marks the halfway point between Spring Equinox and Summer Solstice.
