The ISDA Secure Transportation and Executive Protection News for Wednesday, October 3, 2018 ====================== In Terrorism News France Cracks Down on Iran’s Terrorism France took on Tuesday a number of measures against Iran, after officially accusing the country’s intelligence ministry of standing behind a June plot to attack an exiled opposition group’s rally outside Paris. The French government seized the assets of Iran’s intelligence services and Iranian diplomat Assadollah Asadi and deputy minister and director general of intelligence Saeid Hashemi Moghadam. France had warned Tehran to expect a robust response after Asadi was arrested in Germany suspected of involvement in a plot to bomb the meeting of the Paris-based National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI). The French measures revealed that Paris is certain about Iran’s involvement in the plot.  “Behind all this was a long, meticulous and detailed investigation by our (intelligence) services that enabled us to reach the conclusion, without any doubt, that responsibility fell on the Iranian intelligence ministry,” a French diplomatic source said, according to Reuters.    ====================== In Driving News From the International Security Driver Association Line of Sight and Emergency Driving We have all had the experience of driving on a major highway and running into stop and go traffic, the first thought you have is that there must be an accident just over the hill or around the bend. But when you get to the top of the hill or around the bend the traffic starts to flow, and there is no accident – what caused the slowdown. Two things traffic volume and “line of sight." The line of Sight or Sight Distance is defined as the length of road surface a driver can see and have an acceptable reaction time. The people that are responsible for designing our highways, the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), have guidelines concerning “line of sight”, and from those guidelines developed the all-important Decision Sight Distance (DSD)   https://isdacenter.org/collection-educational-information-resources/ ======================  In Cyber Security News From CNET Google tested this security app with activists in Venezuela. Now you can use it too   On Wednesday, Jigsaw, a tech incubator owned by Google's parent company, Alphabet, announced it's releasing this app to the world. The app takes on DNS (Domain Name System) manipulation, one of the most common techniques used for political manipulation and spreading malware. Intra creates an encrypted connection between your phone and DNS servers, which makes it much harder for governments and hackers to intercept that traffic.   https://www.cnet.com/news/google-tested-out-this-security-app-with-activists-in-venezuela-now-you-can-use-it-too/#ftag=CAD-09-10aai5b ====================== In Technology News From MIT Technology Review Baidu is testing neural networks that can match job seekers to jobs  The Chinese company’s technology identifies candidates whose skills meet employers’ needs. The news: In a recent paper, Baidu researchers showed how their neural net can work out from their résumés which skills job seekers possess, and spot what skills certain job postings are asking for. The software then pairs up the best matches. How it works: The model, called the Person-Job Fit Neural Network, learns which words and phrases in job listings correspond with skills a candidate might have. For example, “product development procedure” and “documenting” are terms that often signal a need for program management experience. The algorithm uses its database to learn whether someone’s job history indicates the relevant experience for the role. These candidates are then flagged as a potential match for the vacancy. Basically, the AI replaces the role of a headhunter.   https://www.technologyreview.com/the-download/612229/baidu-is-testing-neural-networks-that-can-match-job-seekers-to-jobs/ ====================== Links to all news stories mentioned in this podcast are available at the archive website securitydrivernews.libsyn.com.
