Falecia Woods, Senior Graphic Designer for Metra, joins Lisa Dent to discuss last week’s unveiling of the new special locomotive she designed to help celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States. She highlights her thought process behind creating the locomotive design, mentioning how she considers multiple aspects, such as how the train looks while still, how it looks approaching the station, if plumes of smoke obscure the colors, among many other facets. As a Black woman in her field, Falecia exudes pride for the work she’s done getting to where she is and getting the opportunity to represent the country in such a unique fashion.

Account Executive at WGN Radio, Kevin McDonough joins Lisa Dent along with his father-in-law, Pat Grant to talk about Pat Mac’s Pack Bike Ride happening on Friday, June 26th. The annual bike ride, founded by Pat Grant, helps not only support pediatric cancer research, but raises money in financial assistance for young cancer patients and their families. The fundraiser was created in honor of Patrick McNamara who was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor was he was two years old. He went through several brain surgeries, many rounds of chemotherapy, and radiation treatments. In spite of all this, he maintained his cheerful, fun-loving demeanor. He passed away in 2011 at the age of 13, but his memory has not been lost.

Rob Dougherty, Director of Touring Operations for the Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue joins Lisa to talk about the video game-themed immersive experience happening at EXP Rosemont. The venue features a live play version of the game, Minecraft, in which people go from room to room solving puzzles and advancing the story. Rob acknowledges that Minecraft’s original fanbase are well into their adulthood by now, so he encourages older fans to bring their children and make it a family experience and highlights the Adults Nights should adult fans want to go with their friends. The Experience offers something for everyone.

Spokesperson for the Chicago Bandits, Cheri Kempf joins Lisa Dent to talk about the Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) team located in Rosemont. They touch on points such as their sold out Pride Night on June 30th, their Bark at the Park event on July 2nd, as well as the Bandits’ General Manager, former Arizona Wildcat and 3-time Women’s College World Series champion, Jenny Dalton-Hill. Later, Cheri spotlights the Parkway Bank Sports Campus in Rosemont as it was the first of its kind to be built specifically for a women’s softball team.
