The mysterious traveler finally has a name: Nicolás Salgado. As he approaches the cabin across the lake, he thinks about the old letter he has carried for more than a year and the unfinished map that came with it. Both belonged to his great-grandfather, Tomás, who disappeared nearly a century ago while searching for a hidden treasure in the mountains.

Then Nicolás meets Javier Mendoza, a stranger with food, a fishing spot, and no idea what Nicolás is really looking for.
