Seven years ago, the listeriosis outbreak in South Africa, claimed 218 lives and resulted in more than 1 000 infections. Lawyers representing claimants in the listeriosis class action against South African (SA) food producer, Tiger Brands have
announced an agreement that will see some claimants receive advance payments. The company faced claims for damages of up to R2.5 billion in an ongoing legal process. The two payments are intended to provide interim assistance for urgent medical needs while the class action continues.
