Feature Presentation: From 35mm to Every Premium Format Under the Sun - We lived through the transition from tried and true 35mm projection to the now standard DCP format in the late 2000s/early 2010s. There have since been a ton of Premium Large Format options to choose from in digital projection, but to many cinephiles analog still reigns supreme. Let’s break down the various options and ultimately discuss our favorite format, IMAX 70mm, in-depth at the end.

Mid-Credits: One Win After Another - Another Warner Bros. film being released to cinemas means another #1 opening at the box office. Even though One Battle After Another ended WB’s $40 million opening weekend streak at seven, its expensive budget may pay off with a big night at the Academy Awards in March, as it’s currently looking like the favorite for Best Picture.

Feature Presentation: WBD (and Doug) Won the Summer Box Office - The key to victory this year in our box office pools has been to draft films released from the David Zaslav’s superteam of Michael De Luca, Pam Abdy, Peter Safran, and James Gunn. After A Minecraft Movie and Sinners led Murph to victory in the Winter/Spring Box Office Pool, Doug came roaring back to life this summer largely thanks to Final Destination Bloodlines, F1, Superman, and Weapons.

Mid-Credits: The Conjuring Continues Warner Bros. Streak - Doug drafted The Conjuring and One Battle After Another in our Fall Box Office Pool. Will the final two biggies from WBD lead him to victory once again? The massive comeback for The Conjuring franchise to kick off the season would lead us to believe it’s possible despite an anime drafted late by Murph coming in hot.

Feature Presentation: 2025’s Box Office Champion - It’s a near guarantee that Avatar: Fire and Ash, Wicked: For Good, or Zootopia 2 is topping the domestic box office for 2025. But which are we willing to bet on and which do we have the least faith in? To make matters even more interesting, not only will the biggest film of the year potentially be selected in our Fall Box Office Draft, but whoever ends up winning our third and final box office pool for 2025 will end up winning the grudge match for the entire year!

Mid-Credits: Weapons and Warner Bros. For the Win - Warner Bros. Discovery had a hell of a run this summer with Final Destination Bloodlines, F1, Superman, and Weapons. It shouldn’t be a surprise to hear that the person who drafted all four of these films won our Summer Box Office Pool! Maybe the person who drafted A Minecraft Movie and Sinners, which kicked off WBD’s explosive run in April, should have followed suit with that proven strategy for success and taken some of these films off the board?

As we reach this milestone, Doug and Murph welcome Corey’s two other best friends, Ryan and Jon, to discuss the legacy of his favorite TV show, Twin Peaks, and its visionary co-creator, David Lynch...

Feature Presentation: "Diane, 12:20pm, August Twenty-Fourth. Entering Town of Twin Peaks" - Corey introduced Ryan and Jon to Mark Frost and David Lynch’s seminal television program many years ago and attempted in vain to do the same with Doug and Murph while he was still with us. However, it wasn’t until the dual loss of Corey and Lynch over the past 12 months that Doug and Murph finally took the trip to the most unique world that the medium has offered viewers over the past 35 years. So grab a slice of cherry pie and a damn fine cup of coffee as we dissect the impact Corey had on all four of our lives through the lens that only David Lynch could provide.

Feature Presentation: 2025 Film and Television Mid-Year Recommendations - While we have a lot of picks that correlated with our most anticipated movies and shows for the year, we also have a number of surprises that show why it’s important to check out smaller, less hyped movies and shows like Black Bag and Paradise, which are not based around existing IP.

Mid-Credits: Ring the Damn Summer Box Office Pool Bell - While our Summer Box Office Pool is technically still going on, it’s becoming a foregone conclusion who is taking home the gold as Superman achieved something for DC (and Doug) that the Man of Steel hasn’t seen since 1980. A combination of critical acclaim, strong audience reception, and big numbers at the box office!

Feature Presentation: There’s Nothing Like a List to Drum Up Some Debate - The New York Times decided to disrupt the lives of cinephiles with their 100 Best Films of the 21st Century poll this past week, and we’re here to run through the list with you, and share what we found both interesting and surprising from a mostly positive standpoint.

Mid-Credits: June Largely Disappoints at the Box Office - Outside of How to Train Your Dragon having a solid run for the first adaptation of a DreamWorks Animation film and what looks like the start of a long run for F1, June was mostly full of duds. Thankfully a couple holdovers from Memorial Day Weekend provided some much needed firepower in the form of Lilo & Stitch and Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning.

Feature Presentation: Was It Ever Possible for The Last of Us Season Two to Live Up to the Hype? - As two individuals who played The Last of Us Part II and had been patiently waiting for season 2 of The Last of Us to air 2+ years after the superb adaptation of the original video game, we have a lot of strong opinions on how this version of the second game has been presented so far on television.

Mid-Credits: Disney is Back at the Box Office - During the month of May, Disney proved once more that they never should have been doubted during their relative slump over the past couple years. Lilo & Stitch reminded the studio that they just need to focus on making live action adaptations that modern day audiences want to see and Thunderbolts* has given Marvel Studios a new baseline for what their smaller scale films can generate at the box office, which is still quite a bit of money.
