The Cottage

Live with Ruth Ben-Ghiat

Listen Later

Last night, Ruth Ben-Ghiat, an amazing historian whose work specializes in authoritarian movements, invited me to her Substack Live.

We talked about the role of faith in defeating fascism and authoritarianism. I’m convinced that the declining support of Donald Trump in white mainline Protestant denominations is a good sign for the future.

Ruth is terrific. I’m grateful for her work and for her interest in religion as resistance.

And show up for NO KINGS in your town on Saturday, March 28. Bring your church friends! Put the “PROTEST” back in Protestant.

Please sign up for the Cottage. Your support makes a difference.

Thank you Marcus Flowers, Morgan Guyton, Claire, J.J. Loughran, Sandra Steffen, and many others for tuning into my live video with Ruth Ben-Ghiat! About 1500 folks — including many who subscribe to both the Cottage and Ruth’s Lucid newsletter — were online for our Substack Live conversation.

It was good to see so many Cottage people there.

I’m planning to do more LIVE convos in the next few months.
