 New Podcast Episode: Living a Blessed Life – The Beatitudes

In Gospel of Matthew 4:25, large crowds followed Jesus from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and beyond the Jordan.

He saw the crowd.

He went up on a mountainside overlooking the Sea of Galilee.

And He began to teach.

This was His first and longest recorded sermon — Matthew 5–7 — what we call the Sermon on the Mount.

The last word of the Old Testament in Book of Malachi 4:6 (NKJV) was:

“…lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.”

And the first word Jesus speaks in His first sermon?

“Blessed.”

Jesus redefined blessing.

It is not:

• Wealth

• Fame

• Comfort

• Applause

It is humility.

It is repentance.

It is mercy.

It is purity.

It is peacemaking.

It is enduring persecution for righteousness.

The Beatitudes build on one another.

They reveal the heart posture of a true believer.

A proud heart chases God through deeds.

A humble heart knows:

“Apart from Him, we can do nothing.”
