I think that this is how to think about recommendations.

Recommendation is not a free gift, it is being sponsored by integrity, and however we choose to show up when recommended will either increase the value of the recommender's social currency or reduce it.

So whenever you ask for or are being recommended, do not see it as a free gift, remember a price has been paid.
