I catch up with Jill McLean and Cara Turnquist this week on the show.  Their business, Movement Duets, started out as a joint venture between the two and their partners, but it became obvious quickly that it was Jill and Cara who were meant to grow it into its potential. After a few years online they opened a gym space in Salem, Oregon, and they join me today to have a candid conversation about some of the growing pains involved in building a business with a partner.

Erin Brown has been working for social justice in her various communities for over 20 years. For the last 10 years she has been writing books and essays, speaking at universities and conferences, conducting workshops, providing private coaching and tarot readings, and consulting independent organizations in the areas of social justice, positionality, identity development, body politics, trauma, activism and emotional skills and boundaries.

Today we discuss the latest instalment in her Sorting Series of books, What About Love, and many ways Erin deliberately shows up in this world. We laughed, we cried, and we talked about the ways my friend is weary from, and still showing up for her work.

Today's guest, Chrissy King, is a writer, coach and speaker from Milwaukee. We talk about how her voice has evolved online as she gets more vocal about oppression, discrimination, and representation in wellness spaces.  

Rachel Black Graves is a gym owner and coach hailing from Connecticut whose big hair is evenly matched by her voracious personality. Rachel has been building a very special community in her gym, so special in fact that people talk about it in speeches on the other side of the country when Rachel is not even in attendance. In this episode we discuss how she builds that community, and how it is evolving over the years.

Kourtney has been working for years as a personal trainer but realized a few years ago that the focus of her sessions was shifting from physical training to life coaching.  She officially made the switch to a life coaching only business and talks candidly about the changes this has brought to her life.

Kourtney and I also spend some time talking about how she makes time for deliberate play.  

On this week's show I catch up with Allison Tenney, the founder of the Ignited Womxn's Summit in Seattle, Washington. We go deep about womxn's empowerment and where well-meaning white womxn can get it wrong. Allison and I get into what it takes to raise feminist children in today's world as well as the daily habits and practices she undertakes to be able to show up each day to the best of her ability for her family and community.
