Show Notes: In episode #14, Josh and Sean talk about life planning. To get inside this topic we interviewed Arthur Tymos (the CEO of Creation Technologies) and Chris Westby (the young adults pastor from Regina, Saskatchewan).
Here is a list of resources referred to throughout the episode:
Josh’s guide to maximizing your Kindle’s usefulness.
Books recommended by Chris:
* Os Guiness, The Call
* Andy Stanley, Visioneering
* Gordon MacDonald, A Resilient Life
Chris has also provided some samples from his life plan (if you are overwhelmed, just start with the first document):
* A condensed personal vision statement.
* An expanded version of the above statement focusing on 4 key area for discipleship; service, spiritual intimacy, character and community relationships (this is adapted from the book of Mark and the doctoral work of Dr. Steve Brown president of Arrow leadership).
* A life resilience plan complements these other documents. It is more focused on “running and finishing the race.” This document is living and Chris says he reviews it monthly and yearly.
*
A small leadership plan for growth areas. It provides a simple overview of three areas of growth to target over a year. This document can be adapted yearly and used as a way to target items from my resilience plan.
The book Josh mentioned about builiding your relationships is called “Never Eat Alone“.
Books recommended by Arthur:
* Tim Kimmel, Little House on the Freeway: Help for the Hurried Home
* Stephen Covey, The Seven habits of Highly Effective People
Arthur has generously made his development plan public. You can download the Tymos Development Plan here.
