Jacqueline and her family continue with life with German soldiers living with them. School. Resistance. Getting by.
France is occupied by the Nazi. Jacqueline and her family leave their home town to escape the Nazis. They come back to find they have to share their hotel with German Troops.
We are starting with a six part interview with Jacqueline Thibault Schaefer. Jacqueline was born on April 5th 1930 in Caen France. She was 9 when Nazi Germany invaded. She now lives in Sewanee Tennessee.
Interviewing her is Deb Tucker, her former student at Sewanee: The University of the South. Over the years Jacqueline and Deb have become friends and Jacqueline will occasionally share memories of her childhood in World War Two France with Deb. We are excited that she took the time to share her stories with us.
