Living It Up at Disney Deluxe Resorts

Listen Later

Hey there, fellow travelers! Welcome to another episode of "Travel, On The Rocks," where we’re spilling the tea (and maybe some cocktails) on our favorite deluxe hotels at Walt Disney World.

  • 00:00: Animal Kingdom Lodge
We kick off with our wild stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Imagine waking up to a giraffe staring at you through the window – no, it's not the aftermath of a wild night, it’s just the savannah view rooms! And let’s not forget the African-inspired decor that had us feeling like we were on a safari, minus the need for bug spray.

  • 06:18: Boardwalk, Beach Club, and Yacht Club
Next, we stroll over to the Boardwalk, Beach Club, and Yacht Club resorts. These spots are so close to Epcot, you could stumble back from wine-tasting around the world. Plus, the nightlife? Let's just say Disney’s not just for kids.

  • 13:09: Wilderness Lodge
Then, we're off to the Wilderness Lodge. If you like the great outdoors but prefer not to actually be outdoors, this is your spot. Cozy lodge vibes? Check. Chance of a bear encounter? Thankfully, no.

  • 30:12: Polynesian Resort and Kona Cafe
Ah, the Polynesian Resort. The Kona Cafe had us at 'coffee,' and Trader Sam's... well, let's just say what happens at Trader Sam's stays at Trader Sam's.

  • 36:38: Trader Sam's at Polynesian
Speaking of Trader Sam's, did we mention the head-shrinking cocktails? No, seriously, they might actually shrink your head.

  • 45:28: Grand Floridian Resort and Enchanted Rose
Onto the Grand Floridian Resort. Ever wanted to feel like Disney royalty but with a cocktail in hand? The Enchanted Rose bar is where Cinderella goes to unwind after a long day of being a princess.

  • 51:11: Contemporary Resort
And then there's the Contemporary Resort. It's like stepping into the future, but with better room service. And that monorail zipping through? Just our everyday mode of Disney transport.

  • 59:24: Impressions of the Meeting Areas
The meeting areas at the Contemporary Resort had us feeling like business moguls, if business moguls discussed Mickey Mouse and churros in their meetings.

  • 01:00:15: The Unique Design of the Contemporary Resort
Did we mention the monorail INSIDE the building? Yeah, that never got old.

  • 01:01:09: Appreciating Mary Blair's Mural
Mary Blair's mural is like a 'Where's Waldo?' for adults. Spoiler: Waldo's not in it, but the colors are mind-blowing.

  • 01:02:40: The Incredibles Theme at the Contemporary Resort
The Incredibles theme... well, let's just say not all of us are fans. We love Mr. Incredible, but does he have to watch me sleep?

  • 01:03:23: Alternative Themes for the Contemporary Resort
Brainstorming alternative themes... 'The Little Mermaid' underwater suite, anyone?

  • 01:04:09: Mixed Opinions on the Incredibles Theme
More on our love-hate relationship with The Incredibles theme. It's incredible, alright. Incredibly... something.

  • 01:05:20: Dining Options at the Contemporary Resort
Dining options? Chef Mickey's is a trip. And by trip, we mean you might trip over a kid – or a character.

  • 01:06:06: Chef Mickey's and Unique Merchandise
Chef Mickey's and the shopping – because who doesn’t want a Mickey-shaped spatula?

  • 01:07:36: Steakhouse 71 and Lounge Areas
Steakhouse 71 – for when you want to feel fancy but can't shake off the theme park vibes.

  • 01:08:45: Pool and Future Stays
Discussing the pool and our imminent return. Spoiler: we're coming back, and we're bringing floaties.

  • 01:09:02: Planning Future Disney Vacations
Plotting our next Disney escapades. Because clearly, we haven't had enough.

  • 01:10:06: Upcoming Topics: Villas and Disney Cruise
Coming up: We're talking villas and venturing onto a Disney cruise
