In this special episode of the Living Strong Radio Show, Peter Liciaga sits down with someone who has been part of his life for nearly four decades — his wife, performer Renee Chambers-Liciaga.
Peter and Renee first met in 1986 at Hersheypark, where Renee was singing in the Rock & Roll Show and Peter was performing as a dancer in the park’s dance production. One year later they were married, beginning a partnership that has spanned music, theater, world travel, and family.
Renee grew up surrounded by the music industry. Her father, Roland Chambers, worked with the legendary Philadelphia International Records team alongside Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, and her mother was part of the iconic 1960s group The Orlons.
In this conversation Renee shares:
• what it was like growing up around the recording studio• her path into musical theater• performing in Starlight Express• lessons learned from a lifetime in the performing arts• advice for young women pursuing careers in entertainment
Today, Renee is currently in rehearsals for “Jelly’s Last Jam” at Bristol Riverside Theatre in Bristol, Pennsylvania.
This episode is also personal. Peter reflects on a song he wrote titled “One to Be Reckoned With,” inspired by the strength that comes from standing up for what you believe in — a principle that has been central to their relationship for more than 35 years.
A conversation about music, resilience, partnership, and what it truly means to Live Strong.
