Prayer is simply talking to the Lord from your heart.
What you pray for reflects what you believe about God.
#1 - How often should I pray?
(Psalm 55:17, NKJV) Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice.
(Matthew 5:5, NLT) But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.
#2 - What Should I Pray About?
#3 - How Should I Pray?
(Matthew 6:7-8, NKJV) “...when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think they will be heard for their many words. Therefore do not be like them.
(James 5:16 AMP) describes this type of prayer, “...The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].
· Brag on God
(Psalm 100:1-4, MSG) “On your feet now—applaud GOD! Bring a gift of laughter, sing yourselves into his presence. Know this: GOD is God, and God, GOD. He made us; we didn’t make him. We’re his people, his well-tended sheep. Enter with the password: ‘Thank you!’ Make yourselves at home, talking praise. Thank him. Worship him!”
· Admit Your Dependence on God
(Hebrews 11:6, NKJV) “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him."
(James 4:10, NLT ) When you bow down before the Lord and admit your dependence on him, he will lift you up and give you honor.
· Make Your Requests Known
(Luke 11:9, NKJV) So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
(1 John 5:14-15, NKJV) Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
One of the most fulfilling ways to pray is through singing!
(Ephesians 5:18-20, NLT) Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
