“I am ‘STILL LIVING WELL’ with Alzheimer’s Disease and Vascular Dementia for I Am “#DEMENTIASTRONG!!!”
After my diagnosis, I learned very quickly that the only person that can assist you as you go along your Dementia journey is . . . YOU!
After 3 days of lying in bed feeling sorry for myself, I had to make a quick decision . . . “do I want to just continue laying here, feeling sorry for myself or do I want to get up and make a difference? I chose the second option. My background was in Public Relations and Marketing so I was used to talking. What better way to put my voice to good use than to talk about my Alzheimer’s Journey, how I cope, how I handle anxiousness and how staying busy helps to keep me focused.
I know everyone has heard from the medical professionals but it wasn’t until people like Richard Taylor, Kate Swaffer and countless others started speaking out about what life and living is all about from the perspective of the person who is actually “Living the Best Life” they possibly can, coping with the issues that come up and rejoicing in their big and small victories.
