This week is a very special episode of Leaning Right And Turning Left, where Hermie and Senator Stanley have a very frank and emotional conversation about Autism from the parents’ perspective. Mandi Calhoun and Hermie’s wife Angie Sadler join Bill and Hermie to discuss both the challenges and triumphs of raising children with Autism. Listen as they have an honest and open discussion on their respective family’s experiences raising their children, their struggles in dealing with a public educational system that (more often than not) fails parents with special needs children, and how parents can work together to change the system and ensure that their children can flourish—thereby giving them the best chance to lead wonderful, safe and productive lives as they grow into adulthood. Mandi and the group also discuss her efforts both to help parents through the challenges of raising their children, as well as to educate the special needs educators about current autism issues through her incredible organization F.E.A.T (“Families Embracing Autism Together”) – and, how you the audience member can get involved in and support this very important and special charitable organization.
In Senator Stanley’s “Leaning Right Moment,” Bill and Hermie discuss three “quick hit” topics of the current goings-on in Virginia politics: the brewing debate over Governor Youngkin’s significant “parents first” revision of the previous Northam administration’s radical policy concerning transgender students in the public school system; the Democrat Leader in the House of Delegates ridiculously asserting in an Op-Ed that Republicans are an extreme “threat to public safety” because they believe in the 2nd Amendment; and, Sadler and the Senator even explore the recent headline-making physical altercation between two Republican Delegates from the Senator’s region who are both vying for the same seat in 2023 (that has now resulted in pending criminal charges being taken out by one against the other), and whether anyone wins when political altercations like these are determined in the courtroom rather than in the voting booth.
In Hermie Sadler’s “Turning Left Moment,” the boys discuss the debacle of a race at Texas Motor Speedway, the current state of the Sadler/Stanley Racing Team, and speculate as to whether or not the remnants of Hurricane Ian will affect their upcoming race at Motor Mile Speedway in Radford this weekend.
And hey, one of the best parts about this episode is that the boys’ side-kick, their favorite “plus one,” and the infamous Party Time DJ Shep “Burn-Pile” Moss is back in studio with Sadler and the Senator, and he is ready to Drop the Beat and Light the Fire to all the current topics discussed in today’s opening segment!
