Living your life as an activist

Listen Later

Last week, I discussed about three ways to become an activist and many folks wrote me to simplify the examples I gave last week. On this week episode we discussed the importance of living our lives as activist and how we create a bridge for other generations by doing so!

Three examples of people who lived their lives as activist

1. Be authentic, this is very difficult in our society, society always wants us to live in a binary world. Some people in the past have challenge these stereotypical thinking one great example is Toni Morrison the African American writer, who said if you know a story that haven’t been told you should be the one to tell it.

2. Create a pathway for others: by doing something that haven’t been done before you are making it easier for others to do it. Nelson Mandela fighting for freedom in South Africa and stepping down for others to continue Democratic ruling in SA.

3. Be a Unique Individual: By refusing to conform to the pressure of society. James Baldwin was a black, gay writer in a time that black people have little or no visibility in the writing industry, how much more being a gay person that is considered mentally deranged.

Key lesson in the end, we all live lives that challenge the status quo, we are all activist when we choose to live authentic.
