Loving our bodies can be SO flippin’ hard!! As women, we’re constantly told how we should look. Our breasts should be perky, firm and big (yet not too big because that’s distracting to others), our tummies should be tight and firm (yet not too firm because that’s masculine), our arms should be thin (yet not too thin because that’s gross), our thighs shouldn’t EVER touch (because...duh, #ThighGap), our booties should be rounded, firm and big (like Kim K of course).
It’s no flippin’ surprise most women don’t love their bodies. We’re told these stupid messages day after day after day. We can’t flippin’ win! Even if we do tighten our tummies, then it becomes about something else like our arms or our legs or how our boobs need to be bigger or smaller or tighter. (Blah, blah, blah...)
The messages and criticism of our bodies just NEVER EVER stops.
There was a point in time when I was just OVER it! I was tired of never feeling like my body wasn't enough! I knew there were areas I couldn’t change about my body (without plastic surgery) and I was working my booty off to keep others areas of my body “perfect". It was exhausting. I could feel every day what it was costing me to NOT love my body. I felt ready to finally as they say, “love the skin I’m in."
Since I’ve made the shift to fall in love my body as is, it’s been pretty flippin’ fabulous. I connect more with my partner (because sex requires that whole naked thing ????) and I have more flippin’ fun in life because I just don’t care what the heck others think about me and my body.
As I’ve become more in love with my body over the years, I stumbled across Artist, Therapist and #MyBodyIsEnough movement leader, Rachel Tenny and I LOVED her message. Rachel’s vibe is magnetic. She’s high energy, fun and her work is oh-so-pretty and inspiring. (Ya’ll know I love pretty and inspiring.)
When I decided I wanted to record an episode about loving your body, I knew I wanted to interview Rachel. Her work in helping women find that their body is enough is incredible. Plus, her story on falling in love with her own body is one that I believe SO many of us can relate to.
This interview is POWERFUL and flippin’ fun to listen to. You’ll walk away from this episode with a new understanding of why you think the way you think about your body along with a simply and easy way to start loving your body more today.
