Welcome to this latest episode of the podcast. It’s been quite a bit colder these past few days, with Halloween quickly approaching I thought it would be an idea to look towards the upcoming bonfire and fireworks events around Ramsbottom.

Friday 2nd November

Starting off on Friday the 2nd of November, it’s probably the most well known and is certainly going to leave you open mouthed, it’s Ramsbottom Cricket Club. There’s a fair, food, drink, a mahoosive bonfire and some bangin’ fireworks. The fair starts from half past five, the bonfire will be lit shortly after from six o’clock with fireworks commencing at eight. There will also be a band on from 9pm too.

Advance tickets cost £4 for adults, five to fifteen year olds are £2 with under five year olds free. On the evening gate prices are £5 for adults and £3 for children. So an increase of £1.

Saturday 3rd November

The next two events take place on Saturday the third of November. The first of which is Woodbank Cricket Club. The club is roughly a ten minute drive from Ramsbottom Centre, so certainly one of the further events taking place. Much like Ramsbottom Cricket Club, there promises to be food, music, a fair and of course a bonfire and fireworks.

Gates open at 5:15, the bonfire is to be lit at 6:30 with the fireworks display planned for 7:45.

Sunday 4th November

Last, but by no means least, we’ve got two more events on the Sunday.

First we’ve got the furthest of the events listed in this episode which is situated at Bury Football Club on Gigg Lane. Here’s the link to their Eventbrite page for this event.

The only free bonfire night event on my list is hosted at elevated food and drink venue the Shoulder of Mutton.

Ramsbottom United News:

It’s all go at the Riverside recently, that’s not a metaphor either as just this past week we’ve seen six of our players leave the club.

Rob Henry and Jerome Wright have both left for EVO-STIK Premier Division teams with Rob going to Lancaster City and Jerome leaving for Hyde United. In addition to those two,  Curtis Jones has joined Glossop North End. Possibly unsurprising is that Rob Henry has left to join the team Lancaster City, Lancaster being the team that previous Ramsbottom manager Mark Fell is now managing.

As if losing those three players wasn’t enough we’ve also lost Ben Deegan, Phil Dean and Tom Brooks. Also, we’ve lost Andy Robertson, our goalkeeping coach who had stepped up to be Ramsbottom United manager for what I believe was just a day between Mark Fell leaving and current manager Chris Willcock joining.

Thankfully, it didn’t seem to affect the result of the next match as Rammy were away to Frickley Athletic in the FA Trophy qualifying round. An early attempt at goal from Nialle Rodney for Ramsbottom at 7 minutes was put into the back of their own net by a Frickley defender was the start of a great three nil win. Nialle then went on to score our second goal at 70 minutes with the final third goal from Ruben Jerome on 80 minutes.

Nice work boys, let’s keep up that moment going into the next match.

The next match for Ramsbottom is in the league away to Skelmersdale on Saturday the 3rd of November. Kick off is at 3pm.

Upcoming Events:

As this episode is one big list of upcoming events, I won’t list any more here, but just so you know, I am adding events into the events calendar when I get time, the last lot I completed in my lunch break from work. It’s a manual process and is slower, but they are more accurate at least.

So check out the full events calendar for many upcoming Ramsbottom events, but failing that, here are some other great sources too:
