OK… here we go… Let’s Chop It Up!
There was a time… that in order to be famous you had to be elusive. Now with social media... stars must be Omni present and we've moved into a place where authenticity is key. Not only that but your fans need to feel like they are your friends... how does this new world feel to you? How do you feel about social media? Social media stars?
The Sugar Honey Iced Tea:
Before we get outta here, let’s talk about today’s Sugar Honey Iced Tea. For Those that don’t know, these are things that I or a member of the group have found that are really cool aka The SHIT!
AUTHENTICITY.
In order to define authenticity… I thought I’d start with the definition of authentic.
1.not false or copied; genuine; real:
2.having an origin supported by unquestionable evidence; authenticated; verified:
3.representing one’s true nature or beliefs; true to oneself or to the person identified:
I’m not sure sometimes what people are more scared of with todays social media…. The fact that people aren’t being authentic… or the fact that they ARE. The antics we see online couple with the state of America’s politics and discourse. I am definitely more afraid that people ARE being there true selves. That would mean that people aren’t necessarily getting nicer or kinder or more tolerant. And that bothers me… We seem to live in a country that is to be able to rap it’s head around the fact that you can be a women trapped in a man’s body but NOT that police shot unarmed black people for no reason. A country that celebrates people that succeed but tears down the Kardashians for being successful.
Never underestimate authenticity… but never forget that you have to let people be authentic and …
