Surf Report - Portland Oregon

Long Beach Washington and Portland, OR Surf Report for 03-08-2025

Listen Later

Surf's up, coastal thrill-seekers! Get ready for a wild weekend ride along the Oregon and Washington coastline. We're looking at some serious wave action that'll make even the most seasoned surfers think twice.

Today and tomorrow are serving up monster swells between 11 to 16 feet - that's like riding a three-story building made of water! Northwest and west offshore swells are packing a powerful punch at 11 to 14 seconds, which means these waves are going to be epic and intense.

Weather-wise, we're talking mostly cloudy skies with rain likely. Temperatures will hover around a chilly 50 to 55 degrees, so you'll want that wetsuit and some serious gear. Winds are coming in from the south and southwest between 13 to 23 miles per hour, adding some extra spice to the maritime mix.

Tidal patterns are looking dramatic, with low tides dipping down to less than one foot and high tides climbing up to 8.5 feet. Sunrise hits around 6:40 AM, with sunset painting the sky around 6:13 PM.

BUT - and this is crucial - these waters are not for the faint of heart. Cold water, sneaker waves, and rip currents are serious business. A sneaker wave can ambush you faster than you can say "wipeout", pushing far beyond where you'd expect. Rip currents are like liquid highways pulling straight out to sea.

Bottom line: Stay alert, respect the ocean, and maybe leave the heroics to the pros. Surf safely, stay smart, and enjoy nature's liquid roller coaster!
