Surf Report - Portland Oregon

Long Beach Washington and Portland, OR Surf Report for 03-16-2025

Listen Later

Surf's up, coastal adventurers! Buckle up for a wild ride along the Pacific Northwest coastline this weekend. Mother Nature's serving up some seriously gnarly wave action that demands your full respect and attention.

Long Beach and the Washington coast are looking at monster swells today pushing 14 to 18 feet with powerful west winds blasting at 23 miles per hour. Oregon's beaches aren't far behind with similar savage surf conditions ranging from 13 to 19 feet. Seaside, Cannon Beach, Manzanita, and Lincoln City are all under the gun with impressive offshore swells.

Today's weather is a moody mix of mostly cloudy skies with scattered showers and rain likely. Temperatures will hover around a chilly 45 to 50 degrees - definitely wetsuit weather for any brave surfers out there. Sunday brings slightly calmer conditions with surf heights dropping to 12 to 16 feet and winds easing back.

But here's the critical warning: these waters are not for the faint of heart. Cold water, sneaker waves, and rip currents are serious life-threatening risks. A sneaker wave can surprise you by suddenly rushing much further up the shore than expected, while rip currents can quickly drag you out to sea.

Tides will be dramatic today, swinging between highs of 8.9 feet and lows around 1.1 feet. Sunrise comes around 7:25 AM and sunset will paint the sky around 7:23 PM.

Bottom line: Admire these magnificent waves from a safe distance. Stay alert, stay smart, and respect the ocean's power. This isn't just a forecast - it's a survival guide for coastal explorers.
