Surf's up coastal adventurers! The Pacific Northwest coastline is serving up some serious wave action this Friday and Saturday.
Our beaches from Long Beach, Washington down to Lincoln City, Oregon are looking at solid surf heights between 5 to 8 feet today, gradually easing to 4 to 6 feet tomorrow. West and northwest swells are rolling in at a respectable 11 seconds, promising some sweet riding conditions for experienced surfers.
Temperature-wise, we're looking at a cool and cloudy maritime pattern with highs hovering around 55 to 60 degrees. Winds will start light in the morning - mostly north and northwest around 2 to 4 miles per hour - then gradually pick up to 6 to 9 miles per hour by afternoon.
Tide schedules are robust with significant vertical movement. Today's peaks will reach impressive heights around 6.8 to 8.5 feet, with low tides dipping down to just about a foot. Saturday follows a similar pattern with high tides touching 8.6 feet.
But listen up beach lovers - while these conditions sound inviting, our coastal waters demand serious respect. Cold water, unpredictable sneaker waves, and potentially dangerous rip currents are real threats. Those monster waves that suddenly surge way up the beach? They're not just big - they're potentially life-threatening.
So grab your wetsuit, check your gear, but most importantly, stay alert and watch those waves. Mother Nature is serving up an epic coastal experience - enjoy it wisely.
Surf safe, stay smart!
