Listen Later

Surf's up coastal adventurers! The Pacific Northwest is brewing some serious wave action this Friday and Saturday. We're looking at impressive 7 to 10 foot swells today dropping slightly to 6 to 9 feet tomorrow - perfect for experienced surfers but definitely not for the faint of heart.

Our coastal zones from Long Beach Washington down through Lincoln City Oregon are experiencing similar conditions. Expect mostly cloudy skies with scattered showers and temperatures hovering around a crisp 55 degrees. Southwest to northwest winds will be dancing between 8 to 13 miles per hour creating some dynamic ocean conditions.

The offshore swells are coming in strong from the west and northwest at about 7 feet with impressive 12 second intervals - which means powerful and well-formed waves for those skilled riders out there. Just remember ocean lovers these aren't your typical recreational waves.

Important safety note - cold water sneaker waves and rip currents are serious business on these coastlines. These unexpected wave surges can catch even experienced beach goers off guard. Always keep a vigilant eye on the water and never turn your back on the ocean.

Tides will be active with high points reaching around 8.7 feet in the early morning and dropping to negative levels mid-morning. Sunrise happens around 5:40 AM with sunset closing out the day near 8:45 PM.

Surfers and beach enthusiasts - respect the ocean stay alert and enjoy the wild beauty of the Pacific Northwest coastline. Catch you on the waves.
