Peter looked at the wind of the sea instead of keeping his eyes on Jesus knowing first that he said with faith if it's you Lord bid me too come. In that moment he forgot about the ship being in the middle of the sea and in the storm he just trusted God in that moment but in the mist of his circumstances he took his focus but for a moment off Jesus and allowed the cares of this world consume him. Look up Peter. Most times we are Peter! God gives us an idea and we will like a child run with it but when the going gets hard or something happens we look at the winds of our circumstances and we take our focus off Jesus who bid us to come and now we are sinking and have to call on Jesus for help so we don't drown under lives winds instead of just looking up Peter!
(PSALM 121)Looking up to the hills from whence cometh my help! My help cometh from the Lord with a knowing that he will not suffer my foot to be moved he that keep the me will not slumber. So just because the waves are blowing had Peter kept looking up at Jesus he would not have sunk he wouldn't have had to call on Jesus to save him from sinking because he bid him to come so why would God bid us to come in a sinking situation. See our faith has to be beyond what we see. If we trust in the Lord and know Habakkuk 3:19The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments. We must also know Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. We must all know that even while doing Good trials my come so like the very wind that was already there Peter stepped out into it was one thing to be in the boat with wind and waves roaring but it was another thing to be out of the safety of the ship and now into the very waves that was strong enough to rock the boat. but because for a moment in time he saw Jesus Peter looked and saw his help and by faith or some might even say by fear he walked on water and whether it was fear or faith he had courage for a moment in time enough to step out but when he lost focus he lost faith. Don't lose both as Galatians 6:9 says And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." "Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory." "But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing." Had Peter even in the tribulations of the wind had of not lost faith in due season he could have reap a greater reward of Glory knowing that he trusted in Jesus. See sometimes the winds of our life blow often not by happen stance but to to build character God says "I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory" so don't grow weary in well doing because this will make you stronger and you will reap blessing meaning your faith will pay off if you don't give up!!! I've found often times I've had a fresh wind or fresh annoting and fresh fire for Christ when I've gone through something but was able through the power of the Holy Spirit keep my cool through it because my faith is strong in that area.
Maybe the storm was to test their faith meaning the disciples and although in the end Peter still lost faith while in the mist of the wind that could have been sent by God he was the only one that stepped out of the ship and walked on water towards Jesus!
When it's all said and down we have an opportunity to be a generation of people that know that earth is the Lords and the fullness therefore and be those that seek the Lord's face and not loose our focus. We can be like them that dream even if we sow in tears we can reap in Joy!
