Welcome back to The House of Mario! This is your encore with a focus on evergreen Nintendo topics!

This episode is all about my favourite Nintendo Direct, the E3 2014 Digital Presentation! During this time the Wii U had been on the market for 18 months and Nintendo were struggling to sell consoles. The unique gameplay opportunities the Wii U gamepad offered games wasn't resonating with gamers and the newly launched PS4 was quickly taking the industry by storm. Though, through all of this, Nintendo still had a hardcore fanbase, and during E3 2014, Nintendo leaned into inside jokes and references that were catered to fans and funny gifable moments to share online. While Nintendo were never able to salvage the Wii U, this presentation is a perfect example of a company knowing their fans and customers.
