That bittersweet rediscovery became the backdrop to another unexpected highlight: running into my old friend Rob, the very person who got me into ultrarunning. Running side by side, we unknowingly pushed each other to a pace far quicker than either of us had managed solo in ages, a living reminder that shared effort often pulls greatness out of us—even if it leaves our aging legs grumbling.
