Cyro Asseo breaks down the Los Angeles Clippers’ options to replace
Bradley Beal, who’s officially out for the season with a hip fracture.
This is a devastating blow for a veteran-heavy roster built to win now —
and the front office has to act fast.
Cyro examines every angle, from short-term stopgaps to bold trade
swings:
Cameron Payne (Internal Option): The logical plug-and-play guard who can
stabilize tempo and run the second unit. Payne’s energy, shooting, and
playoff experience make him the safest internal fix — but he’s more of a
patch than a solution.
Malik Monk (Trade Target – Kings): The ideal offensive replacement. Monk
brings instant scoring, shot creation, and secondary playmaking. He
fits perfectly next to Harden and George, offering explosive bench
scoring and spacing — but he’ll cost assets, and Sacramento won’t sell
cheap.
Devin Carter (Rookie Target – Bucks): A defensive-minded, high-motor
guard who could inject toughness into L.A.’s rotation. His rookie-scale
deal makes him financially viable, though prying him from Milwaukee
would likely require draft capital.
Cam Thomas (Trade Target – Nets): The upside swing. Thomas can flat-out
score, averaging nearly 20 points per game when healthy. He gives L.A.
the microwave scorer they lose in Beal, but he comes with defensive
limitations that may clash with Ty Lue’s system.
The Verdict:
The Clippers can survive Beal’s absence, but only if they commit to
rebalancing the roster around Harden, George, and Kawhi. Monk offers the
best blend of talent and fit, but Payne gives them stability without
touching future assets. Expect the front office to explore both paths as
they try to salvage a season built for contention.
