A reading for The House of Apprehension

Stephen Elliot, a young orphan boy, is sent to live with his middle-aged bachelor cousin, Mr. Abney. Abney lives in remote country mansion in Lincolnshire, where he is known as an eccentric Cambridge professor of Greek, who consumes himself with studies of esoteric metaphysics and mystery religions.
