Critic Reviews:
"Engrossing and engaging. This is a funny and acutely observed book about an often overlooked moment in history. The expectations women have of themselves and each other are exposed in Simmonds' wry story of friendship and loss." (Catherine O'Flynn)

A wonderful read, thoroughly absorbing
I picked up this book and then struggled to put it down. Above all it's a great story, filled with some fascinating characters who draw you in, and it's perfectly paced. I was transported to Greenham Common in the 1980's; I lived and breathed the camps, felt the cold wind, tasted the food, lived the awkward, anxious, and hilarious moments. There are no disappointments in the skill here, just consistently polished writing, punctuated with sparkling perceptions. A fantastic read in every way.
