There was a time when the primary purpose of our relationships was to ensure our survival and the continuation of our lineages. Now today that has become only one aspect of why we seek partnership and love. We now are driven by the desire for emotional depth, intimacy, spiritual evolution, and healing. But the fulfillment of these desires cannot truly unfold when we are relating to each other within the context of assigned gender roles.
