I’ve been listening to slow jams my whole life since the 70s, 80s, and 90s, when some of the greatest love songs ever made lived in the shadows of late-night radio, cassette tapes, and quiet moments. That era shaped how I hear music.
Slow jams taught me patience.
Soul taught me feeling.
Over time, R&B changed. The charts moved on. But real slow jams and soul never left they just moved underground. That’s where I’ve been listening.
Love Bug was born in 2020 as a way to capture the kind of R&B I actually love the songs that don’t always get pushed, but still hit deep. Every year, I pull together a small selection of slow jams and soul records that speak to me in that moment.
