What a surprise the angel’s announcement must have been for Mary! Sure — she was expecting the Messiah like everyone else; but, there’s no way she was expecting to be the vessel chosen for God’s love to come down to earth. Hopefully, our hearts are as open as Mary’s — to carry the gift of God’s love into all the world.
