By My Side.

Love came walking by me,

grinning sheepishly as I

looked up and caught its eye,

then for a single moment

our eyes met and held such warmth,

but then it passed me by.

I've been chasing dreams so long,

that I can't tell the crack of dawn,

from the warm grip of the night,

every time love did me wrong,

I felt so strong,

for oh, so long,

that it would be

all right.

There's a small space in my heart,

that's waiting to be rented,

by someone with

nowhere else to hide,

and the price is not unfair,

with just a little love and care,

they'll have a warm place to abide.

I hope someone reads the signs

in the windows of my eyes,

that says, "There's room to share."

Cause lonely nights, and empty sighs

broken dreams and cold goodbyes,

are far too much to bear.

There's a small place in my soul,

that's sitting vacant

waiting for someone,

whose hopes have been denied,

my hearts rent has room to share,

The rent in your life we'll repair,

and find a sweet place to abide,

by my side
