As a young child, Goff injured his eye when he was playing with his father's rifle and the gun went off. Goff's dad rushed him to the hospital, which is how Goff imagines God responding to human failures.

Goff befriended a corner store owner. Goff often bought candy at the store and the owner would sometimes allow him to take the candy even when he did not have enough money. This helped Goff realize that sometimes people can make their own rules.

When Goff was in elementary school, he joined a little league baseball team. The team made it to the playoffs but lost. Goff, however, hit a home run. His coach sent him a card that told him he was a real baseball player....

Do yourself a favor and read the original book, not this VERY POORLY written review by Instaread. For folks that follow my reviews, you know that I am a big Instaread fan and usually love their reviews but not this one. The overview is completely disjointed, separate paragraphs that read more like a random list. NO continuity. When discussing 'Character Relationships' we are told that Goff's friend Doug introduced him "to a particular form of Christianity". What is that supposed to mean?

I do not recommend this Instaread summary at all. It certainly sounds like Bob Good has led an amazing, adventure filled life and so the one good thing about this summary is that it has encouraged me to purchase the original and read that. It's only 241 pages so I am looking forward to it.

How ordinary people can do extraordinary things

Love Does by Bob Goff is an excellent memoir that shows how an ordinary person, through faith, can do extraordinary things. While the author stresses the Christian basis of his beliefs, one doesnât have to be Christian to see the value in the lessons Goff learned in life; that self-reliance, love, and the willingness to take risks and live life to the fullest, are the keys to happiness and success. The author uses his own life to show how a person perceived in childhood to have low potential, but who had big ideas, can go on to greatness.
