Galatians 5:22-23

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

You have to have spiritual fruit in order for your gifts to work.

It is important to have a practical understanding of the Fruits of the Spirit.

 We know that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, 

and it is equally true that God is in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself.

 In the same way, the Holy Ghost is sometimes viewed as the Spirit of the 

Father or the Spirit of the Son, yet remains a distinct person, distinct from 

both the Father and the Son.

 Therefore, the Fruit of the Spirit is an outcome of the man in Jesus, 

encompassing new birth manifested through the Holy Ghost.
