1 Kings 11:11 King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women besides Pharaoh’s daughter—Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians and Hittites. 2 They were from nations about which the Lord had told the Israelites, “You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods.” Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love. 3 He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines, and his wives led him astray. 4 As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods, and his heart was not fully devoted to the Lord his God, as the heart of David his father had been.

6 So Solomon did evil in the eyes of the Lord; he did not follow the Lord completely, as David his father had done.

 

The wisest man in the world and richest and most admired…

Samson… fell away because of what he loved…

David fell to lust…

Jacob was suckered into marrying Leah due to his love for Rachel

Then there were todays heroes.

and unfortunately so many more…

 

But it’s not just women that causes us to fall in love…

 

There is money

Or maybe just the hunt of making money and deals and advancing in our careers 

MAYBE we are in love with adrenaline

Maybe we love alcohol, partying, drugs

Maybe we are in love with sports, hobbies, hunting fishing…

Or maybe we are in love with our families… they come first at any cost!

 

What is it you love?

 

 Eph. 2: Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first.

 

The Church of Ephesians was doing everything right… God even says it right there in verses 2,3

2I know your deeds, your labor, and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate those who are evil, and you have tested and exposed as liars those who falsely claim to be apostles. 3Without growing weary, you have persevered and endured many things for the sake of My name. 

 

So it’s possible to live for God whole heartedly and not LOVE God whole heartedly…

 

*That should be the wake up call of all wake up calls.

 

Matthew 7:21 21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

 

So you can have the power, the works, the looks, the track record, the admiration, the perseverance, the church attendance, The prophetic gifts that grew others in Christ, the family and even the tally card of how many demons you have cast out…. but without LOVE….

 

Its all over the bible

 

Corinthians 13

13 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned,[a] but have not love, I gain nothing.

 

Men the goal is not to die with the most toys… its not to die with having led the most people to Christ… its not even dying a sinless life in pure and complete holiness

Its simply this…

Dying in love… in love with the Savior Jesus Christ!
