The homily reflects on Jesus’ commandment to love one another. But love isn’t always easy. Relationships with family, friends, and colleagues can be difficult. We often blame others for our unhappiness, without realizing that we too play a part in the tension. We tend to view things only from our own perspective.
Fr Vincent reminds us that whilst we are not called to like everyone, we are called to love, to help, forgive, and show kindness, even when it’s difficult. Jesus Himself forgave those who rejected Him, and He never condemned anyone.
In daily life, be it at work, in families, or among friends, when conflict arises, we’re challenged to choose love over resentment, peace over argument. If we can’t do good, at the very least, we should avoid doing evil. Through prayer and grace, we can find the strength to live out Jesus’ commandment to love one another.
