According to the Scripture Pastor will be teaching this week, it is the task of the Church to carry out the Great Commission. We do this by proclaiming the good news of “reconciliation” and trusting God to use it in His own time and in His own way. According to J.I. Packer, “It is a work of communication in which Christians make themselves mouthpieces for God’s message of mercy to sinners.” We are tools in the Master’s hands. He could have used donkeys or stones to preach the gospel if He so chose (which He has). But in His infinite wisdom, He chose us! Over the next year, how is Crosspointe going to participate in this ministry? Every church hopes for a year of growth: numerically, financially, and in maturity; a year in which more men and women will hear and respond to call of God on their lives; a year where the church is constantly being poured out and thus constantly being re-filled. We all want Crosspointe to be a church that is alive and exporting life, sharing the fire of His love. But the truth is, encouraging people to come to church must be preceded by disciples going out to engage the world with the love of Jesus Christ. Be in your place this week as we see what lies ahead in the coming year and how serving and engaging the community can be a ministry of reconciliation. With this in mind, it is sure to be a year full of promise and possibility because He is a great and gracious God!
