The words sound hard, "hate your mother, father, brothers, and sister if you're going to follow God. In comparison, your love for God will seem like hating them, but you won't. In fact, if you think about the pain Jesus caused his earthly family, it was only because he loved them. Without the suffering they went through because of his suffering, he could not become their savior anymore than he could become our savior. Love sometimes might look different for a moment, but God seems to turn all things for good. Even what looks like hate.
