Tribe Talk

Love of the Father

Listen Later

Every man, no matter how old he is, still carries the echo of one longing: *“Dad, are you proud of me?”* The way that question is answered – or never answered – shapes our confidence, our choices, and even the way we see God.

In this episode of *Tribe Talk*, Mike and Jim explore the deep impact of a father’s love, drawing from John Eldredge’s book *Fathered By God*. Eldredge writes, “The safety that a father’s strength provides allows a boy to be a boy, creates a universe for a boy’s heart to come fully alive.” A good father doesn’t remove every risk; he creates a safe enough space for his son to take chances, fail, get back up, and grow into a man.

Mike and Jim share stories from their own relationships with their earthly fathers – the strengths, the gaps, the blessings, and the wounds. Then they hold those experiences up to the original design: the way our Heavenly Father loves, protects, disciplines, and launches His sons into their purpose.

In this conversation, they talk about:

- How a father’s presence or absence shapes a man’s view of God and himself

- Why so many men live with quiet insecurity, even when they’re successful on the outside

- What it looks like to receive the love of the Father when your earthly dad couldn’t or didn’t give it

- Practical steps to become a different kind of father (or spiritual father) to the next generation

If you’ve ever wrestled with feeling “not enough,” struggled to connect with God as Father, or wondered how to break unhealthy patterns in your own family line, this episode will speak directly to you.

Listen in as Mike and Jim point you back to the perfect love of the Father and invite you to live, lead, and love from that place of security.
