She has worked with the Black Students’ Association, the Caribbean Studies Student Union, UofT’s Black Graduation ceremony, the Caribbean Solidarity Network and, most recently, Black UrbanismTO. Anyika has also been involved with the NDP in the York South-Weston community and currently works as a constituency assistant for Member of Provincial Parliament for Toronto-St. Paul’s, Jill Andrew. Her activism for the NDP extends to the Ontario New Democratic Party Youth Council where she was elected as the Outreach Director. In her personal life, Anyika loves theatre and was the Stage Manager for DreamGirls, the first black musical to be held at the University of Toronto, was a part of writing a show on Black Canadian history and has acted in a number of student led productions. Anyika recently had the honour of hosting a live read of her own play, Making Moves, with Nightwood Theatre through their playwrighting program, Write From The Hip in September of this year. Making Moves was also performed at Weston Artscape in February 2020 by Piece of Mine Arts for their Black Women In Theatre event.
