Love Your Neighbor - Week 1

Listen Later

(Matthew 25:40) "Whatever you did for the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."

(1 John 3:17-18) If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.

Serve others, not save others.

· Relief and restoration

· Relief is immediate temporary help during and after a crisis.

· Restoration is a long-term relationship to rebuild wholeness.

Relate with people, not rescue people.

Reach out, we never reach down.

"We've divided the world into those who need help and those who offer help. The truth is, we are both." - Brené Brown

√ LOVE Can Embrace Orphans.

(James 1:27 TPT) True spirituality that is pure in the eyes of our Father God is to make a difference in the lives of the orphans, and widows in their troubles, and to refuse to be corrupted by the world’s values.

(Psalm 82:3-4) Defend the defenseless and the forgotten, the destitute. Your duty is to deliver the poor and the powerless; liberate them from the grasp of the wicked.

√ LOVE Can Empower the Poor.

(Proverbs 19:17) "If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord."

(1 John 3:17-18) "If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech, but with actions and in truth."

√ LOVE Can Reconcile Racism.

Dennis Leary - “Racism isn’t born folks, it’s taught.”

· A victim of hatred.

· It is taught.

· Ignorance.

(James 2:9) “If you favor some people over others, what are you doing?” You are committing a sin. He said, you are guilty of breaking the law of love.
